INTERTWINED, GARY SCHLINGHEIDER - ENRICO BACH
Bekijk kunstwerken
The exhibition INTERTWINED brings together the works of Enrico Bach and Gary Schlingheider, two contemporary artists who explore the concept of connection and duality in unique and thought-provoking ways.

Through their distinct practices, they examine the interplay between different artistic disciplines, historical references, and formal elements, creating works that are deeply engaging and conceptually rich.

Enrico Bach’s medium- to large-scale oil paintings are a dynamic interplay of abstract lines and blurred figures that seem to emerge from or dissolve into the background. His compositions are rooted in a careful balance of control and spontaneity, where linear structures in the foreground interact with muted yet evocative forms in the background. These forms often reference and reinterpret historical art, creating a subtle dialogue between tradition and modernity.

The tension in Bach’s work arises from its oscillation between abstraction and figuration. The lines and shapes challenge the viewer to navigate the boundaries of recognition, evoking an atmosphere that feels both familiar and mysterious. Inspired by Old Masters like Rembrandt and Diego Velázquez, Bach integrates their mastery of light, shadow, and spatial dynamics to craft works that are as intellectually stimulating as they are visually compelling. His paintings create a space for contemplation, where layers of meaning unfold with time.

Gary Schlingheider’s artistic practice lies at the intersection of painting and sculpture, where bold color fields meet reductive, geometric forms. His works, often large in scale, are characterized by a minimalist yet striking aesthetic. Drawing inspiration from artists like Ellsworth Kelly and Frank Stella, Schlingheider investigates the boundaries of two- and three-dimensionality, crafting objects that challenge conventional categorizations of medium and form.

In Schlingheider’s pieces, color and form take center stage. His works convey a powerful presence, merging architectural precision with a sense of fluidity. The viewer is invited to engage physically and emotionally with the works, which evoke both stability and movement. Through his practice, Schlingheider not only blurs the lines between disciplines but also opens new avenues for how art can be experienced and interpreted.

The exhibition FUSION explores the synergy between these two artists, whose works, while distinct, share a common focus on creating connections—between past and present, abstraction and representation, painting and sculpture. Together, they construct a space that encourages viewers to engage deeply with the art and uncover the harmonies and tensions that arise from these intersections.

In INTERTWINED, the dualities that underpin each artist’s work come together in a compelling conversation, offering a profound reflection on the possibilities of contemporary art to bridge contrasts and evoke meaningful connections.
