BENEDIKT LEONHARDT
The materiality and radiance of color fields become central, while the painterly process remains deliberately enigmatic.
Benedikt Leonhardt lives and works in Leipzig. He studied at the Academy of Visual Arts Leipzig (HGB Leipzig) and completed his Meisterschüler under Prof. Astrid Klein.
 
Leonhardt’s work explores the tension between figurative memory and painterly abstraction, creating layered compositions of oil, acrylic, and industrial pigments where fragments of images dissolve into luminous fields of color. His paintings transform digital references and fleeting moments into tactile, atmospheric surfaces.

His work has been presented in exhibitions such as “Perlin Noise” (Berlin), “Pale Blue Dot” (Leipzig), and “OTO” (Berlin). Leonhardt is the recipient of the LVZ Art Prize and a Stiftung Kunstfonds Bonn grant, and his works are held in public and private collections across Europe.

BENEDIKT LEONHARDT
“In my painting I’m working with figurative stimuli being overlaid by complex constructions of lines, translucent colors and surface material.

Benedikt Leonhardt builds his paintings from figurative impulses that are gradually overlaid with intricate layers of lines, tape, and translucent veils of colour. Drawing on imagery circulating through digital culture, he constructs luminous surfaces where photographic fragments, abstraction, and painterly materiality remain in constant tension.
