At the intersection of light, geometric abstraction, and the search for meaning, the works of Sebastiaan Knot and Johann Alexis open a captivating visual dialogue on the nature of time, human existence, and perception. Though they follow distinct artistic paths, their works complement and resonate with one another, offering a profound reflection on the interplay between light and shadow, the visible and the invisible, order and chaos. Through their mastery of color, light, and material, Knot and Johann question our relationship with the world around us and with ourselves. Their art invites us into a rhythmic flow of contrasts: light and dark, clarity and shadow, the visible and the invisible, always in motion, always in flux. Knot’s vibrant geometric compositions and Johann’s minimalist sculptures both serve as visual invitations to contemplate the repetitive nature of these dualities—where light emerges from darkness, and darkness constantly reshapes the contours of light. Knot’s work transforms light into an active force, continuously shifting and blending, creating visual experiences that feel suspended in time. His manipulation of color and form immerses the viewer in a world where light is not just a passive element but a dynamic, ever-changing presence. Each piece invites the viewer to explore the nature of perception, urging us to reconsider the way we experience the world, where every moment of clarity is followed by another moment of uncertainty. For Knot, light represents more than illumination—it is a symbol of constant motion, renewal, and transformation. His geometric abstractions, with their sharp lines and vibrant colors, embody the dance between clarity and obscurity, form and void. The vibrant energy in his work reflects the cyclical nature of existence, where light constantly emerges from darkness and returns. It evokes the ever-shifting perception of reality, a rhythm that repeats yet evolves with every glance. Johann Alexis explores the depths of darkness through his minimalist sculptures and paintings, where shadow is not merely the absence of light but a space for reflection and revelation. Using materials such as concrete and aluminum, Johann creates immersive environments where light and shadow interact in constant tension, inviting introspection and confronting the viewer with the complexities of existence. His work embodies a cycle, one that repeats endlessly, mirroring the human experience. The darkness becomes a canvas where we confront our inner selves, while light intermittently breaks through, offering glimpses of understanding. In this ongoing interplay, Johann speaks to the impermanence of life and the fragility of human existence, where the continuous movement between light and shadow reflects the transience and depth of our journey. Together, the works of Knot and Johann create a dynamic dialogue between light and dark, where each constantly reshapes the other. Through their mastery of light and shadow, Knot and Johann invite the viewer to reflect on the fleeting nature of time, and the ways in which the visible and invisible are intertwined, urging us to reconsider our place in an ever-changing world. Their works do not simply depict contrasts—they embody the rhythm of life itself, a reminder of the cycles that define our experiences.
