Art On Paper 2026: Brussels

1 - 4 October 2026
Overview

For the 2026 edition of Art on Paper Brussels, held at Tour & Taxis, Galerie SEPT brought together two remarkable female artists, Lee Hyun Joung and Ulla Hase, in a poetic dialogue exploring the physicality of drawing, the rhythm of repetition, and the intimate relationship between body, material, and time.

Dedicated exclusively to works on paper, the fair provided a natural setting for two distinct yet deeply connected artistic practices, where paper becomes more than a surface: a space for movement, memory, and transformation.

Through the meticulous layering of traditional Korean Hanji paper and ink, Lee Hyun Joung creates sculptural landscapes shaped by repeated gestures, evoking natural formations, life's journeys, and the quiet passage of time.

In contrast, Ulla Hase transforms the simplicity of the ballpoint pen into immersive fields of lines, where thousands of individual marks accumulate into vibrating compositions that reveal the endurance and physical presence of the artist's hand.

Despite their different visual languages, both artists share a profound commitment to repetition as a meditative, almost performative act. Their works reveal the beauty of persistence, where each gesture becomes a trace of lived experience.
