LEE HYUN-JOUNG SOUTH-KOREA, 1972

Biografie
“Her work transforms time into visible rhythm — each line a quiet testimony of presence and memory.

Born in 1972 in Seoul, Lee Hyun Joung explores memory and the passage of time through meditative compositions she calls “paths.” After studying Fine Arts in Seoul and goldsmithing in Paris, she developed a practice that merges traditional Korean aesthetics with contemporary abstraction.

Working with Hanji paper and black ink (Muk), she creates textured reliefs where each rhythmic line reflects a lived moment.

For over two decades, she has exhibited across Europe and Asia. In 2017, she received the Taylor Prize at Art Capital in Paris. Her work entered the collection of the Musée Cernuschi in Paris in 2024.
