From the Osh to the Universe marks a new chapter in SEPT’s ongoing collaboration with Johann Alexis, a relationship developed over time and strengthened through successive presentations of his work. The exhibition reflects an artist whose language is expanding with confidence while remaining rooted in the questions that have long shaped his practice: perception, matter, interdependence and our place within larger systems.

For this solo exhibition, Alexis introduces KELP, a new body of biomorphic paintings inspired by underwater forests. Rather than depicting nature, these works use organic forms as shifting structures—at once vegetal, anatomical, geological and cosmic. They extend his interest in unstable perception, where images move between the familiar and the unknown.

Mamba Black remains a central material, but its role has evolved. No longer only a signature depth, it now interacts with metallic pigments, new textures and a broader chromatic vocabulary. Alexis also returns to Universal Rocks, revisiting these geological-cosmic landscapes through new tonalities that alter their atmosphere and scale.

The exhibition continues downstairs, where SEPT inaugurates a new space dedicated to Alexis’s orange works. Their radiance creates a striking counterpoint to the absorptive darkness above, revealing the breadth of a practice in constant development. From oceanic life to mineral matter and the universe beyond, Alexis’s work continues to grow without losing its coherence.
