ROMAIN PARIS GARNAULT France

Biographie

French self-taught sculptor and artisan Romain Paris Garnault develops a distinctive practice at the intersection of contemporary sculpture, traditional craftsmanship, and collectible design. Based in the foothills of the French Pyrenees, he transforms carefully selected, reclaimed wood into one-of-a-kind sculptural furniture and functional objects, exploring the relationship between natural material, form, and human intervention.

Working primarily with cedar, poplar, and thuja, Paris Garnault approaches each piece through an intuitive dialogue with the material. Rather than imposing a predetermined shape, he responds to the wood's inherent characteristics, allowing its grain, fissures, and irregularities to inform the final composition. His organic volumes and expressive silhouettes reveal a sensitivity to balance, texture, and the passage of time, challenging conventional distinctions between functional design and autonomous sculpture.

His work has been presented internationally, notably during Paris Design Week in 2023 and at Salon Art + Design in New York in 2025, reflecting his growing presence within the contemporary collectible design landscape.

At Galerie SEPT, Paris Garnault's practice contributes to an ongoing dialogue between art, design, and materiality. His creations transcend their utilitarian purpose, existing as sculptural objects that invite a renewed consideration of craftsmanship, nature, and the place of art within everyday life.
