Biography

REFLECTIONS OF IDENTITY

Italian artist Daniel Basso explores the intersection between reality and perception through reflective surfaces. His mirrored artworks are more than objects; they serve as a metaphor for contemporary society, inviting introspection and dialogue about self-awareness and collective identity. Born in Turin in 1975, he has dedicated his career to questioning the meaning of things and life through art. His sculptures are monuments to individuality and community, celebrating cultural heritage and the values that define our identities. He collaborates with companies and artisans, embracing the Genius Loci—the spirit of place—by preserving and honoring local craftsmanship worldwide. Mirrors have long been tools of self-reflection, both literal and symbolic. In Basso’s work, they go beyond function, becoming vehicles of transformation. His art questions ethics, beauty, and the way design and fashion shape our perception of the world. The mirror, unchanged through time, becomes a bridge between tradition and the imagination of a better future. His mirror-finish sculptures create a unique interplay between space, time, and consciousness. The reflective surfaces blur the boundaries between the observer and the artwork, making each viewer an integral part of the piece. These polished surfaces transform stillness into motion, allowing personal and environmental narratives to coexist in a "fourth dimension" of meaning and memory. In front of a mirror, we are all the same—suspended between dream and reality. Through his work, Daniel Basso challenges us to embrace reflection, imagination, and a shared vision for the future.
