Production Techniques
At the start, there is a drawing representing a composition of apparent cubes set in geometric perspective.
This drawing is almost a blueprint or a score to interpret in different dimensions, proportions, depths, and textures.
The modified blueprint, when transferred to steel, folded and welded, becomes a volume in between the second and third dimension.
These volumes, in reality made up of diamonds and trapezoids, are organized like pixels, detached from each other, but structured as a single rigid ensemble, passing through the blind angles of each element.
A bit like foliage concealing the branch to which it is attached. The white acrylic surfaces are light receptors, and by their tilt, they reveal volumes and voids through shades of white and gray.
The brushed and oxidized steel surfaces are achieved by brushing and using iron acids, combining two opposite states of the same steel allowing for a natural contrast and a dual graphic identity.
The mixed-media surfaces imply the use of self-adhesive and permanent photography, combining the space depicted in the images with the space represented by the sculpture's volumes.
Artistic Approach
From my earliest creations, I sought a unique perspective on reality with the intention of revealing a fantastical universe.
A fascination for science and technology is a source of inspiration. For my perspective sculptures, I use descriptive geometry as a language that allows representing in space the relativity of the viewpoint itself.
In this sense, this approach is also aligned with kinetic art.The voids between the elements of a sculpture symbolize the invisible energy that holds together a dispersed ensemble, seemingly by order and disorder.
It's also a way to showcase suspended time, as if in a virtual world anchored to reality. Both abstract and concrete, the compositions are a search for a balance and harmony equation. They act as questions and answers.
